Each week, Suite 101 ranks the top 16 NASCAR Nextel Cup drivers based on results and performance!
1. (1) 48-Jimmie Johnson: We've seen this picture before- Jimmie Johnson gets off to a hot start, kind of fades away around mid-summer, but is back in championship contention by the time the season winds down.
2. (2) 17-Matt Kenseth: At least when Tony Stewart took him out at Daytona, there was grass in the infield. If Carl Edwards wasn't there, Clint Bowyer would have hit the inside wall.
3. (3) 31-Jeff Burton: Right now, there isn't a driver more consistent than Jeff Burton.
4. (5) 5-Kyle Busch: It's hard to believe that you can be fourth in the NASCAR Nextel Cup standings, and still be considered a 'bubble driver'.
5. (7) 29-Kevin Harvick: Kevin Harvick will indeed be among the favorites when the NASCAR circuit visits the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in two weeks.
6. (6) 9-Kasey Kahne: Missing in action since his win at Michigan.
7. (9) 24-Jeff Gordon: Thanks to Tony Stewart, the Jeff Gordon/Matt Kenseth feud has been practically forgotten.
8. (8) 20-Tony Stewart: Tony Stewart is putting himself in a vulnerable position by making enemies with drivers who have nothing to lose, and whose Chase for the Championship hopes have diminished.
9. (12) 11-Denny Hamlin: I don't think Denny Hamlin minds the 500-milers at Pocono.
10. (4) 8-Dale Earnhardt Jr: Who would have guessed that Dale Earnhardt Jr would have scored two consecutive last place finishes before he scores two consecutive first place finishes?
11. (9) 6-Mark Martin: If Mark Martin isn't careful, he could become the odd-man-out when it comes time for the NASCAR Nextel Cup Chase For the Championship.
12. (14) 2-Kurt Busch: I wonder how many ladies are heart-broken that Kurt Busch will no longer be single after this weekend?
13. (11) 16-Greg Biffle: Suddenly, Greg Biffle has been unable to lead laps in abundance as he did earlier in the season.
14. (13) 99-Carl Edwards: Carl Edwards over Tony Stewart in three rounds.
15. (NR) 25-Brian Vickers: I wonder if Brian Vickers is second guessing his decision to leave Hendrick Motorsports after he has began to run well.
16. (NR) 43-Bobby Labonte: A much needed top ten finish for Bobby Labonte and Petty Enterprises.
