All season long, Suite 101 has ranked the top 16 NASCAR Nextel Cup drivers based on results and performance.
1. (1) Jimmie Johnson: Jimmie Johnson is no longer a bridesmaid! Man, I'm getting sick of hearing that saying. 2. (3) 17-Matt Kenseth: Kenseth's cold streak came at a very inopportune time. 3. (2) 29-Kevin Harvick: If you include the Busch Series, Harvick is the driver of the year. 4. (5) 11-Denny Hamlin: Forget rookie of the year, he's a candidate for driver of the year. 5. (4) 8-Dale Earnhardt Jr: Junior Nation has reason to smile again! 6. (6) 20-Tony Stewart: Despite missing the Nextel Cup Chase for the Championship, Stewart had a stellar season overall, matching his win total of 2005. 7. (8) 31-Jeff Burton: Jeff Burton-Comeback Driver of the Year. 8. (9) 9-Kasey Kahne: Kasey Kahne- Runner-up Comeback Driver of the Year 9. (7) 24-Jeff Gordon: At Homestead, he looked like the 2005 Jeff Gordon. 10. (10) 6-Mark Martin: No longer will 6 be Mark Martin's number. 11. (11) 99-Carl Edwards: Carl Edwards and Ryan Newman- the two drivers most likely to find victory lane again in 2007. 12. (12) 5-Kyle Busch: Great season, disappointing finish. 13. (NR) 16-Greg Biffle: Greg Biffle is to Homestead as Jimmie Johnson was to Lowe's Motor Speedway from 2003 to 2005. 14. (16) 1-Martin Truex Jr: Truex Jr could be a darkhorse in 2007. 15. (15) 07-Clint Bowyer: Clint Bowyer was undoubtedly the second best rookie in 2006. Expect him to shine in 2007. 16. (13) 2-Kurt Busch: Kurt Busch's introductory season as Rusty Wallace's successor was very forgettable.
