It was confirmed last week that Ferrari is expected to debut a new model for the 2007 Formula One season.

Attending the F2007 inauguration was Felipe Massa along with Kimi Raikkonen. Raikkonen, who supplanted seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher on the Ferrari roster.

Formula One driver Felipe Massa tested the newly designed F2007 for the first time last Monday at Fiorano. Despite a rather murky weather condition, Massa completed 39 laps, and posted his fastest lap with a time of 58.360 seconds. Massa along with Raikkonen is expected to test the F2007 on January 23 at Italy's Mugello cicuit.

The primary difference from the 2006 Ferrari (248 F1) model is the extended front wheelbase. Ferrari is endeavoring to improve their performance in Formula One racing, as they have disappointingly failed to capture the manufacturers title and the driver’s championship over the last two seasons.

The chassis department head Alda Costa said in the press conference, "The aerodynamics have been completely remodeled; above all the front suspension, the air inlets on the main body and the rear axle are tighter and more tapered, to benefit also from the new architecture of the gear box."

The rear suspension is relatively similar to that of the 248 F1 (2006 Ferrari), however it is projected to evolve. The locality of the rearview mirrors and the exhaust system are practically the same as the 248 F1. Also, the rules of the engine 056 will remain the same.
